Increasing Your Website Traffic Using Content

The content of your web pages are the words you use to describe your services or products to your potential customers. Content is the words you use that make a connection with, communicate with, entice, excite, convince and interest your visitors You use your content to turn visitors into customers.
The search engines are also interested in your content. They love fresh, original keyword rich content. One of the aims of search engines is to provide users of the Internet with easy access to the most relevant websites first.
In part this is done with keywords. The person searching the Internet for relevant information uses keywords. If they are looking for fishing rods and your site only refers to fishing rods a few times it is unlikely to be presented on the top of the pile of billions of other sites referring to fishing rods.
Search engines also love new content. So if your site is static with no new content being added and the content is poor quality, and unoriginal chances are your site will not do very well in terms of organic search engine activity. This means you receive fewer visitors. So how do you get great content?
You Can Write Your Own Content
This will be easier if you are writing about topics that you have a lot of knowledge in already or if you have a particular passion for. New webmasters often start here. It is free but it is time consuming. Writing your own content may become a bit of chore several months down the track when you feel you have run low on ideas. Perhaps you are not particularly good at writing anyway.
After all there are people called copywriters. Copywriters are trained in the area of writing copy so it stands to reason that they are likely to be better at it than you.
Ask People To Make Comments
Another way to get content to your website is to invite other people to make comments at your site. This may be in the form of a forum or perhaps a message board. The problem with this sort of content is that it is likely to be low quality and even irrelevant content.
You may decide to increase the quality of comments by inviting professionals in your field to make comments about a particular aspect of your industry or by starting an advice section where people can write in for advise from you.
These approaches can be quite time consuming. You obviously do not want people making negative comments so you would need to constantly patrol the incoming content.
Use Articles That Are already Written
There are literally millions of articles available that have already been written. There are articles on almost any subject you can think of.
You can find these articles easily by doing a search for the keyword article directory. After you have located your article directory you can choose the articles that you are interested in. Copy and then paste them into your website.
There are a few negative aspects to this approach. Firstly if the article is any good chances are many other people also searching for content have used the article. Search engines do not like a lot of duplicated content. You may be able to get around this issue by writing a short introduction and making a post article comment to support your needs. You must not, of course, edit or change the articles in anyway. You are also bound to include the author resource box at the end of the article. It may not be to your best interest to have a fabulous article written by a direct competitor
on your website with their website links right there for your customers to link onto and away from your site. There is no way around this if you are using free articles written by other people. You must include their resource box otherwise you are performing an illegal act and are in fact breaking the law. Ensure that you are familiar with the terms of use. This will be clearly spelt out on the website you are obtaining these articles from. In some cases you will also be required to link to the article directory as well so make sure you are up to date with what your end of the deal is.
The copy and paste method can become exhausting. If you are serious about your online business you may find that you need hundreds if not thousands of content rich pages to make a full time living from your site. As you can imagine this may take you months if not years to achieve. There are software programs available to help you in this area. They do not write articles for you but they can search out articles according to your keyword requirements. They can also do the cut and paste for you.
If you decide to use other articles written by other people combined with software to help you, just make sure that the software you chose has a time delay setting. It really will be obvious to the search engines that you have done something inorganic to grow your site if you suddenly go from a 5 page website to a 500 page website over night. More than likely you will be penalised for this. Ideally you want to add the new articles and pages one by one.
Find Someone To Write Content For You
Have you heard the term Ghost writer? Ghost writers are people who you can pay to write copy for you. They will write your articles for you. They will even write you a book if that is what you want. Of course you have to pay for this service however there are lots of positive things to say about obtaining the help of a ghostwriter. Firstly if you are an ideas person but you just cannot put your ideas into words a ghostwriter can help you. They will create well written, original, keyword rich content for you and make it sound like you wrote it. You are not bound to put anyones name or links with the text. In fact you can put your own name and links there. You can even claim authorship if you wish.
If you acquire the help of a ghost writer to write articles for your website you may decide to submit the articles to an article directory too. You can add to your links campaign by placing your name and use a link that points to your new web page in the resource box. This will help the search engines to quickly find and index your, original, relevant content keyword rich, new web page. Of course there is still the issue of duplication in the future if you take this route. All the word of your article will be available for other people to cut and paste into their sites.
